Sectional dismantling

Where a tree cannot be felled whole, it is taken down piece by piece so nothing lands where it should not.

Protected trees, TPOs and conservation areas

Some trees in Somerset and Dorset are protected by a Tree Preservation Order, or stand in a conservation area. Work on a protected tree needs consent from Somerset Council or Dorset Council first, and the liability for unauthorised work falls on the tree owner, not the contractor.

We check whether a tree is protected before any work is agreed, and we only carry out work on a protected tree once consent is in place. If you are not sure, mention it on the form and we will look into it for you.

Frequently asked questions

Can you remove a tree close to my house?
Yes. Trees close to houses, garages, roads or cables are taken down in sections, usually from our Spider MEWP, so each piece is lowered under control rather than felled whole.
Do I need permission to remove a tree?
If the tree has a Tree Preservation Order or stands in a conservation area, the council must give consent first. We check this before any work is agreed, so you are not caught out.
Will you remove the stump?
We can grind the stump below the surface or remove it completely. Tell us what you plan to do with the ground and we will recommend the right option.
Can you reach a tree in my back garden?
Usually, yes. Our Spider MEWP fits through a 0.78 metre gap, so a side gate is often enough. If not, we take the tree down by rope.
What happens to the waste?
We take away the branches and timber unless you want to keep the logs. Timber is recycled into firewood and woodchip goes to local farms and animal sanctuaries.
How much does tree removal cost?
It depends on the size of the tree, how close it is to buildings, access and waste. We look at the job and give you a free quote before any work is agreed.
